VeChain is a dual token system, with VeChain Token (VET) and VeThor Token (THOR). The network rewards users with THOR when they hold VET, a model also found in NEO and GAS. VET can be used to deploy applications on the platform, while THOR can be used to pay for applications and transactions on the network. VeChain claims it is better suited for enterprises than other blockchains like Ethereum and Bitcoin, as it avoids the high costs driven by higher usage. The company has announced its goal to focus on the financial services sector in its development plan and has partnered with various companies including BMW, Groupe Renault, DNV GL, and property mortgage loan provider Fanghuwang.com. VeChain, which initially existed as an ERC-20 token on the Ethereum network, plans to negotiate with exchanges to perform a token swap to become an independent network and launch a mobile wallet and ledger integration.
