SwapDEX is a decentralized finance (DeFi) platform comprising of a primary network called SmartDEX-Network and a research chain known as Kusari-Network. The SmartDEX-Network is maintained by validators chosen through a Nominated Proof-of-Stake (NPoS) consensus design, and rewards are given for correct behavior and penalized for misbehavior. SwapDEX introduces a decentralized governance scheme, permitting changes through agreement by elected council members. Unlike other projects, validators and governance are kept separate, hence a user’s right to participate in governance is not delegated. NPoS replaces the inefficient Proof-of-Work design with Proof-of-Stake, improving efficiency and security. The SwapDEX system encourages decentralization; SDX holders can become validator candidates or nominators. Validators and nominators use their coins as collateral, and will be rewarded or penalized depending on performance.
