Livepeer is a decentralized video streaming protocol meant to provide an alternative for broadcasters to centralized solutions. It is token incentivized and secured by a delegated proof-of-stake system in which network participants stake the Livepeer token (LPT) for the purpose of coordination and preventing attacks. Ethereum's Ether is used for broadcasting video and fees are earned for processing and bandwidth. An initial allocation of LPT is distributed for staking and additional token is programmed to be issued over time.
