Grin coin is a private, lightweight, open-source project based on the MimbleWimble blockchain protocol. Unlike Bitcoin or Ethereum, Grin transactions do not involve addresses, and transaction histories are not recorded on the blockchain, keeping the network lightweight and efficient. The coin was launched fairly, without fundraising or pre-mined coins, and uses a dual-hash Cuckoo Cycle proof-of-work consensus algorithm, designed for GPU and ASIC mining. Grin's mainnet was launched on 15th January 2019.
