DigiByte is an open-source blockchain created in 2013 and launched in 2014. It is one of the safest, fastest, and most decentralized UTXO blockchains available. Its blockchain network is driven by a volunteer-based global community and its technology uses five cryptographic algorithms for enhanced security. DigiByte blocks occur significantly faster than those of Bitcoin or Litecoin, and it has implemented several important innovations including DigiShield guard, MultiAlgo mining, and Odocrypt algorithm among others.
The DigiByte blockchain comprises of three layers; the top layer is for applications and digital assets, the middle layer for security and administration, and the bottom layer for communication and operating procedures. The blockchain is entirely open source and free to use.
DigiByte (DGB) is a peer-to-peer digital currency that offers industry-leading transaction speeds with minimal fees. It can be mined using five algorithms, and will have all its 21 billion DigiByte mined by 2035. Afterwhich, miners will then rely solely on transaction fees. DigiByte also offers DigiAssets, a secure scalable layer on top of its blockchain that allows for decentralized issuance of assets, tokens, smart contracts, digital identities and more. Another feature is Digi-ID, a security protocol built on the DigiByte blockchain technology that offers effortless sign-in to websites and applications.
The DigiByte blockchain is an accumulation of the efforts of tens of thousands of volunteers from all over the world who strongly believe in the project. The founder of DigiByte is Jared Tate, who has been working on its development full-time since October 2013.
