Augur is a decentralized prediction market built on the Ethereum network, leveraging the wisdom of the crowds to accurately forecast future events. It runs on its own token, REP, and allows users to place bets and profit from the trading buys. Augur was advised by Intrade founder Ron Bernstein, Robin Hanson, and Ethereum founder Vitalik Buterin, and released its first beta version in March 2016. All REP tokens were distributed in October 2016, and the project was launched in July 2018.
